| I’ve been having a lot of conversations lately about what yogic teachings say about quitting something Instead of focusing your energy on what not to do Yogic teachings recommend you choose an activity to replace whatever you’re stopping and send your energy there instead Maybe you’d like to spend less time on social media or have a weekly day off of technology (this is something I’m currently working on) Instead of thinking ALL the time: I’m not supposed to be on Instagram don’t open up TikTok damn how did I end up in Facebook? I don’t even remember clicking it Pick an activity or activities to do instead Here’s some off the top of my brain: 🖍 Color 🧩 Puzzles 🎸 Learn an instrument 📓 Journal 🧁 Bake 🕺 Dance 🪴 Garden 🧎 Yoga 🧑🍳 Cook 🌬 Pranayama (breathwork) 🧘 Meditate 🤲 Tai chi 🤳 Call a friend 💆 Self massage 😴 Take a nap 🎨 Paint 🌱 Tickle some plants 📖 Read 📺 Watch a comfort show or movie Pick the ones that feel joyful to you (don’t replace it with something that feels like a chore otherwise you’re just should-ing yourself in a new flavor) Maybe make a lil menu to choose from – you can even decorate your menu if that feels fun You know I LOVE an activity menu If this is feeling like TOO much on your own, like who trained your brain to be such an Olympics level asshole to you when you’re just trying to be a lil kinder to yourself goddammit! |
| I’ve got a ball gag for the Olympic asshole coach in your head We’ll brainstorm together and try out some of the most appealing options You’ll feel supported and like the next step is one you’re ready to take Because feeling seen in your struggle and cared for anyway is healing on such a DEEP level for us recovering perfectionists and people pleasers 😉 Be seen and loved in your mess Because you’re magnificent in ALL of your dimensionality |
