And here are my top 10 ways to protect your sacred energy:
- Wear or carry crystals (black tourmaline and obsidian are favorites of mine – I like black tourmaline more for the home and obsidian more for traveling with me)
- Smoke medicine: Use smoke medicine to cleanse and give yourself a protective shield (My favorites are cedar and juniper – be aware of closed practices, so you don’t misuse or culturally appropriate these magicks)
- Essential oils paired with affirmations (I am safe to be myself, I show up in my fullness, I am protected in my authenticity are some of my fave protective affirmations – but feel free to craft your own)
- Full Moon water: I have a ritual any time before I hold space for someone else (through a tarot reading or presence session, or whatever) that I take a tiny little bit of my Full Moon water and ask that I be protected and that the magick and the medicine meet that person where they’re at and be what they need in that moment
- Boundaries: Say no to things you don’t want to do, carve out time and space for yourself; it is challenging for sure AND you absolutely deserve it
- Wear a hat and/or sunglasses when you need extra protection: feeling like strangers are leering at you, reduce their ability to perceive you
- Call in the support of your spirit team and well ancestors: You can be as general (Please protect me) or as specific (Please help me continue to communicate my boundaries in business so I stop over giving and overextending myself) as you’d like – your spirit team and well ancestors are here to guide and support you – but you have to call them in 😉
- Work with protective plant medicines: I absolutely LOVE this one from Xalish medicines and this one that I’ve made is potent for protection, cleansing, and aligning to your path
- Spend time on the land reminding yourself you are nature embodied: Hug a tree, sit in the grass, go for a hike, spend time with the land, frolick through a meadow, take a nap by the water, or however you like to commune with nature
- Use protective music: I love this protection chant sung by my friend Gurnimit Singh
- Draw pentagrams on your shoes, car, bicycle, hats, etc for protection
- Wear evil eye protections, I love an evil eye anklet personally
Don’t feel like you have to do them all
Start with the ones that speak to you
Craft your own rituals that feel protective to you – there’s no “wrong” way to do it as long as we’re not appropriating or harming anyone
